Bootcare

Please read carefully Adhere to the points below to ensure you receive the longest and best quality life from your Meindl boots.
These following points must be adhered to, to ensure the Guarantee can be honored.
Putting on your Meindl boots:
-
DONT hold the boots by the cuffs and swing them onto your feet! This pulls at the seam where the Gore-Tex lining is stitched to the leather cuff and puts unnecessary strain on the stitching.
-
Place them on the ground, undoing the laces down to the D-rings, move the tongue forward and place your foot in.
-
Pull the laces sideways when lacing up. Do not pull the laces towards the sky!
Taking your boots off:
-
Unlace the boots properly, pull the tongue forward and slide your foot out of the boot.
-
Do not stand on the back of the boot to force your foot out.
Leather uppers:
BEWARE! Manure, urine, blood and chemicals (eg. diesel and drench) etc, are all extremely harmful to all types of leather.
If your boots are exposed to any of the above substances, wash it off with warm soapy water as soon as possible to avoid any deterioration of the leather uppers, and reapply Sportwax.
Never wear the boots when the leather uppers are bone dry. The leather will crack. Either wax them with Meindl Sportwax or wet them until you can wax them.
Gore-Tex®
Gore-Tex is a 100% waterproof lining and is designed to be as tough and rugged as possible for its intended use. Gore recommend the following for extending the useful life of Gore-Tex footwear.
Punctures in the Gore-Tex can cause leakage! Take reasonable precautions when you encounter sharp objects such as barbed wire, thorns, Barley Grass etc. Keeping your toenails clipped may help extend the life your boots also. Shake out sand, gravel and dirt from your footwear (remove the footbeds).
Cleaning
-
Basic Cleaning: Very dirty boots should be brushed clean using warm water to remove mud, manure, blood, diesel etc.
-
Drying: The footbeds should be removed at the end of every day of use, to allow them to dry out. The boots should then be allowed to dry out naturally and not force dried by any form of direct heat. (Suggestion: when boots are wet through, rest them up-side-down on a simple peg type object to allow the moisture to drain to the cuffs)
-
Waxing: When the boots are dry, lightly brush over with a clean bristle brush and place in a warm area. When warm, apply Meindl Sportwax with a brush thoroughly (an old toothbrush is ideal) and polish in.
-
Suede Cordura etc: Boots should be wahed clean of dirt or contaminants as in No. 1. On drying treat with a Silicon spray.
