Posture & Correct Walking System

bootThis world patented Meindl walking system was developed to reduce the risk of injury from walking or climbing in steep country. The stress and strain on the hip, knee and ankle joints can cause irreversible damage and the correct boot with supports for the conditions of use, is paramount. Remember when a pack is carried, it further increases the load on the lower  limbs.  The Meindl Walking System also incorporates a heel strike angle. This ensures the foot is aligned for correct placement. The fully orthotic shank immediately changes the posture by transferring the weight from the heel forward to the ball of the foot. The ball of the foot is the natural balancing point when negotiating rough or uneven terrain. This feature vastly improves dexterity when climbing and walking. Repositioning the body's balance point forward onto the ball of the foot, leaves the heels and skeletal train above floating with virtually no stress or weight on any of the lower limb joints.

This system has amazing benefits for reducing back ache, hip, knee and ankle problems.

Gore-Tex Inner Lining®

gore texGore-Tex has now proved to be an amazing material that both stops water and wind from penetrating, but allows moisture in the form of vapour to penetrate through. The principle is very simple and works much like the human skin. i.e. when a person exerts themselves, the skin allows moisture (perspiration) to pass through in a fine molecular form through the skin.

The principle is very simple and works much like the human skin. i.e. when a person exerts themselves, the skin allows moisture (perspiration) to pass through in a fine molecular form through the skin.

It is very important to be aware that each foot has a number of sweat glands, and that in a reasonably active eight hour day, each foot will produce approximately 250ml of perspiration (approx. 1 cup). It is much more comfortable and healthy to have a Gore-Tex lined Air Pumping system, which will move this perspiration through the boot keeping the foot dry.

Synthetic Mesh Supports

Glued to the inside of the leather uppers is a Synthetic Mesh which supports the leather and keeps the boots in their correct shape wet or dry. Therefore the boots will give you the same correct support in all conditions.

Air Pumping System

insoleMeindl and Gore found in their tests, to improve the removal of perspiration/water from the boot, an air pumping system is required. This system works every time the boot is 'flexed' when walking. The inner lining is compressed, forcing air through the boot. This air movement transfers the moisture through the ventilation system.

Sole Construction

boot soleboot soleMeindl and Vibram have produced a series of soles that ensures the best foot hold, support, edging ability, traction and shock absorption in each of the Meindl boot categories.

Footbeds (Insoles)

insoleIn conjunction with the Gore-Tex lining and Air Pumping System, it was found that to enhance the removal of perspiration, “nappy” adsorption technology was used. The Vildona Footbeds have a waterproof top layer which has minute holes enabling the perspiration to be transferred through to the super adsorbent layer below.

Lacing System

boot soleboot soleThe boots are easily tied and fit so well with Meindl's D-lacing system made of non-rusting material. The new DiGAfix system is the flexible, no-pressure diagonal fixation in the area around the instep. Developed by Meindl to provide a perfect fit and stability, particularly around the heel.
